The Holy Chit-Chat

A podcast hosted by two of God’s silliest gooses who dive into the Bible and explore its teachings in a fun and relatable way. We’ll be laughing, learning, and (attempting to) stay focused as we study the Bible together. 📖✨ Expect deep conversations, lots of “wait, what does that mean?” moments, and a fair amount of us getting sidetracked. (Seriously, pray for us. 😂🙏)

In this episode of The Holy Chit-Chat, we’re getting personal and talking about seasons of transition, obedience, and stepping into the unknown with God.
As Brooke's family prepares to move to North Carolina for a new ministry season, she shares honestly about the emotions that come with leaving behind comfort, familiarity, friends, routines, and the life built over the last 14 years. At the same time, we talk about the excitement of watching God open new doors and trusting Him even when we can’t see the full picture.
We also dive into another “unknown” season as Tori shares about stepping into homeschooling her four kids. From fears and insecurities to trusting God with something completely outside her comfort zone, we talk about how obedience often means walking forward before feeling fully prepared.
We also talk about:• How to discern whether an opportunity is truly from God• Wrestling with fear, grief, uncertainty, and excitement all at once• What practical obedience has looked like for our families• Trusting God when He gives the next step instead of the whole plan• Encouragement for anyone walking through a transition season
If you’re in a season where God is stretching you, calling you somewhere new, or asking you to trust Him deeper than before, this episode is for you.
📖 Scripture Mentioned:“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” — Proverbs 3:5-6

The book of Jonah doesn't exactly kinda leaves us on a cliff hanger... And Jonah isn't exactly playing up to what you would think a prophet should. Even after everything he's gone through and watched God do, instead of giving Him praise... he's mad...
We've got a little beef with this guy. But also, we're still kinda like him more than we think we are.
Join the chat and let's dive into the last chapter in the book of Jonah.
Oh... and of course it wouldn't be The Holy Chit-Chat without some rabbit trails 😅

This week we're chatting about Jonah chapter 3 and getting down to what it looks like when obeying God turns out to look a lot different than you thought it would. And maybe we shouldn't be so hasty to judge the guy. We look a little more like him than we would like to be more often than not.
Plus... we've got the cutest special guest on this week's episode! 🤗

Dive into chapter 2 of Jonah with Brooke and Tori and they talk about Jonah's response while he's in the belly of the fish.
Was his prayer sincere? Was he praying out of awe to God? Or was he praying as a last ditch effort to save his life?
Sometimes hitting rock bottom (or in this instance, the bottom of the belly...) makes us realize that maybe we weren't doing what was right and we REALLY need to shift our heart.

Join Brooke and Tori as the DIVE (😅) into chapter 1 of Jonah!
We're taking a few weeks with some "minor" prophets in the Old Testament and this guy... we've got some feelings about. Some justified... some maybe not so much.
Chapter 1 opens with immediate disobedience to a direct call from the Lord. And instead of obeying, Jonah quickly says "nope!" and goes the complete opposite direction!
... crazy move for a guy who is in close communion with the creator of literally ALL things.

054 - John 21

Apr 28, 2026

We’re back this week diving into John 21, and wow… this chapter hits in a quiet but convicting way. (I mean... WE'RE not quiet...)
It’s not the big, dramatic moments of the resurrection—it’s the after. The everyday. The going-back-to-what’s-familiar kind of moments.
We talk about the disciples returning to fishing and how relatable that is. When life feels uncertain or we don’t know what’s next, how easy is it to slip back into old habits, old mindsets, or just what feels comfortable?
Then comes one of the most powerful scenes: Jesus meeting them on the shore, cooking breakfast (yes, Jesus making breakfast is a whole moment), and gently restoring Peter. No shame. No lecture. Just grace—and a question that cuts straight to the heart: “Do you love me?”
That leads us into a real and honest conversation about how we can unintentionally deny Jesus in our own lives. Not always in loud, obvious ways—but in the small choices, the compromises, the moments we stay silent, or when our actions don’t line up with what we say we believe.
This episode is both a mirror and an invitation. A reminder that we’re all capable of falling short—but also that Jesus always meets us there, calls us back, and invites us forward.
So whether you’ve been feeling distant, distracted, or just stuck in routine—this conversation is for you.
Grab your coffee, come hang out with us, and let’s chat about what it really looks like to follow Jesus… even when it’s hard, even when we mess up.

053 - John 19-20

This week on The Holy Chit-Chat, we’re walking through some of the most powerful and emotional chapters in the Gospel of John. Chapters 19 and 20. Yep… we’re talking about the cross and the empty tomb.
We sit in the weight of Jesus’ crucifixion—what it meant, what He endured, and the love that held Him there. It’s heavy, it’s humbling, and it’s something we probably don’t pause to fully take in enough.
But the story doesn’t end there…
We also celebrate the moment everything changed. When the tomb was found empty and hope came rushing back in. We talk about Mary’s encounter with Jesus (and how relatable her confusion and grief feel), Thomas’ doubts, and how Jesus meets people right where they are.
Of course, we take a few side roads along the way processing what this means for us today.
This episode is a mix of reflection, real talk, and a reminder that even in the darkest moments… Sunday is coming.

052 - John 17-18

This week, we’re diving into John 17–18… and let’s just say, we tried to stay on track 😅 (spoiler: we didn’t always succeed). But honestly? The rabbit trails made this conversation even richer.
In John 17, we get a front-row seat to one of the most powerful prayers ever prayed—Jesus praying not just for His disciples, but for us. Yes, YOU. We unpack what it means that Jesus prayed for our unity, our protection, and our purpose long before we were even here. It’s personal, it’s powerful, and it might just hit you in a whole new way.
Then in John 18, things shift as Jesus is betrayed and arrested. Even in the tension and heartbreak of these moments, we see His authority, His peace, and His unwavering commitment to the mission.
Somewhere along the way, we take a few unexpected detours (as usual), but every tangent circles back to the beauty of who Jesus is and what He’s calling us into.

In this episode of The Holy Chit-Chat, we walk through John chapters 13–17—some of the most intimate and powerful moments of Jesus’ ministry before the cross. (We also hop on a bit of a soap box towards the end of the episode 😅)
We start in the upper room, where Jesus flips expectations by washing His disciples’ feet, modeling radical humility and servant-hearted love. From there, we unpack His command to “love one another,” and what that truly looks like in our everyday lives.
As the conversation continues, we dive into Jesus’ farewell discourse—His encouragement to the disciples, the promise of the Holy Spirit, and the reminder that even in trouble, we are never alone. These chapters are full of comfort, truth, and a call to remain rooted in Him.
